I ended up ordering these heels:
They are the Ama patent leather almond toe pump and they come in several perfect-for-fall colors! The bad news is, they are final sale, but for $27 and change, I am willing to risk it. (Regarding sizing: I normally order an 11 in Talbots closed toe heels, which is the same as I almost always need at J.Crew. In other words, they run small.)

This may be a glitch, but I got free shipping at Talbots, too. I was messing around with the shipping addresses and suddenly it went from charging $8 to charging $0 for shipping. Just for the record! I try not to ever pay shipping, so the mystery free shipping really made me happy!
There are lots of other cute things, too! Most of the clothes are not final sale but the super cheap shoes are. I really, really wanted this, but resisted:
Crying another tear just looking at it. Those tassels! That pebbled leather! Sigh. It also comes in pretty moss colored suede. It is a big bag, a steal for $50 if you ask me.
Anything at Talbots catching your eye?
Very nice! I am going to have to stick to the valentinas as the extra 3/4 of an inch is a deal breaker for my poor feet!

So glad you posted about these! The free shipping was working for me, too, but I took too long looking at another pair and then it didn't work. However, I 'live chatted,' and the nice CS applied it to me post-order. Sweet deal! I also ordered the 'Jolenas' (I think--a 3" peep toe that comes in the same colors as the Ama). FYI, neither shoe is final sale in the praline color. I got the Amas in the green and trying the Jolenas in the praline.

Wendy, I am glad you ended up finding something to get! I love finding gems like these shoes. I may have to try the Praline color, too! I actually stopped by the Talbots store on my way home from work, and tried on the Jolenas - someone returned a 10.5. They were SO comfy. I hope you like them!

Thank you for posting this. I love those Valentinas, but they're out of my current budget. The Talbots version is much more wallet friendly (though I would also prefer the lower heel of the Valentina) and will satisfy my desire for a jewel green pump. I do hope I ordered the right size, I have no experience with Talbots shoes and ordered my standard 7.

If the Talbots version had a lower heel, I would have ordered every single color, I think! I think your standard size will work... I ordered half a size up from what I often wear in their shoes and it is a tiny bit big but not falling off my foot. I hope they work for you!

ReplyDeletegigi, I think you will! I got mine already; they were delivered a few days early yesterday and they are gorgeous. The color seems to be a little darker than it looked online but I love it! They are also more comfortable than the Monas. I am really happy with them!
